2. Cat’s Game

Using a symbolic tic-tac-toe configuration, this piece contrasts the devotion of a World War I war nurse with the slapdash care we often receive in contemporary HMOs.

My husband teaches Chemistry at the University of Southern California. This piece refers to the uneven rhythm of the funding-experiment-publishing cycle.
4. Shelf Life Series

In a parody of consumerism, twelve people in a toy store have diverse takes on the value of a doll. Text on sides of frames describe the thoughts of the owner, the emotional child, the rich woman, the security guard, and others.

All too often, our identities are based on our possessions. These panels describe snobism masked as passion; our gourmet food, our real estate, our toys, are all safety nets for our esteem.

7. Grab Bag: City

We all join teams to establish our identities--religions, communities, and hobbies. This series satirizes the gung-ho pride we develop as our allegiances blossom.

People, as puppets, wear their defense systems stamped on their bellies. The flirt overcompensates for her low esteem, the bully hides his fears by pushing people around.

A sendup of products based on master artists' works.
Vinnie Van Go! describes a factory that cranks out poor copies of his images. An anti-corporate poem is funkily stamped on a changing screen and the floor is covered with numbered bakery waiting tickets.

Our culture nurtures an "us-them" dynamic between authority figures and the masses. This student has a crush on his teacher.

I translated a stained woman's form into a cloudy sky. Our house is on the breast, our local stores across the bottom, and a grungy shawl hangs loose against her back.

Daily Mirror newspaper carries absurd articles about the ways that television can invade your humanity. A simulation of junk on coffeehouse tables includes old games and related items.

Referencing the Egyptian Book of the Dead, this series offers guidance on urban survival. "Perform your chores headfirst, muting chronic upgrades."

This series investigates the notion of contentment. Can we feel truly contented in this Age of Information? Can we ever feel satiated? Can we ever catch up?
